I’m going to try a little different approach and add pictures as I go.
May 14 –
05.14.2020: 0830: The Center Sanctuary this morning. Pots from the 1980s art work at Townsend Middle School. Hollyh0ck is a descendent of Larry’s collection given to me back about 20 years ago?
Shot for a score this morning with Swombo checking. 210/300 The morning was cool. This was after we walked in Udall Park.
I spent the rest of the day working on publishing a short story. Couldn’t fix the cover. We watched the news and a couple of episodes of Whose Line Is It? and went to bed.
05.15.2020: 0130: I awoke knowing what I needed to fix the cover. Went to the computer and spent 90 minutes typing and correcting. 0300: Slept until 0530. By 0630 we were in the Matrix to Udall Park for our walk. Clusters of people were walking their dogs. We are recognizing some of the dogs (They don’t wear masks.). On a whim, I decided to take PJ to The Baja Café which has been open since May 11. Their tables are six feet apart. We were the only couple in the window part of the dining room. Another couple was in the main dining room. The help recognized us. We all had masks on. No condiments on the tables. Everything was shiny clean. We had eggs and bacon with whole-wheat toast and fresh fruit with strawberries. The last time we were there, we had Rachael and Ethan with us. Remember? (In January, I think.)
I got home to find this picture of Leonard’s home/office in Darmstadt, Germany. Wouldn’t that make an ideal spot to write poetry? Len has over thirty years of experience as an editor for various newspapers including the European version of The Stars and Stripes. We attended high school together.
I worked all day getting the e-pub and the hard copy published. I want them to be ready by Swombo’s Birthday (May 26). Finished by 1700. The Kindle
version should be up Saturday by 1000. See the end of this Maytag Moments.
Then enjoy Margaret Ann’s INSPIRATIONS for May. This is one of her best.

0645: We walked Udall. 2400 steps. The most walked in a long time. PJ took this when we rested in the shade. Marvin the Martian has a special meaning for us. Robert had Marvin tattooed on his shoulder.
0700: Ramsey Poodle works out every morning at Udall catching the green ball in mid-air. He is one impressive dog!
1000: I joined the RWA (Saguaro Chapter – Tucson) Zoom meeting for the second time. This time, it was easier to “click” in and participate. About 12-14 members were present. Once in, things went smoothly.
1115: I’ve ordered some Author copies of Welcome Home. I’m ready to start my next short story. This should go faster.
Once we settled for breakfast, we were interrupted by the quail. Mama and twelve babies. I took ten shots to get this one with them all together.
05.17.2020: Moving backward a little. Saturday evening, PJ went to bed early and I got hooked into watching the 1969 British movie The Battle of Britain. This morning, (after – Zoom- Church), I researched the movie to find that it is a highly accurate portrayal of the battle. The producers wanted to avoid a propaganda theme to the point that the German pilots spoke German with no English subtitles.
After our morning walk in Udall, we drove to Sprouts to see if it would be too crowded for shopping. We arrived at about 0800. Only a few cars were parked. Super clean interior and about 12 shoppers inside. Everyone was wearing masks ( two customers were not). We were able to get our items and move to an open cashier. Even the grocery belt was cleaned before placing items on it. We had to use the store’s plastic bags. No cloth bags from home are allowed. We were home in time for the Zoom (St. Francis) meeting. After the meeting, St. Francis has a Talkback meeting. I sat through that while PJ slept.
Now, I’m caught up – sort of. I still have to find some pictures for Julie that I have misplaced in the computer, somehow. I’ll do that this afternoon.
We get letters:
Sam, I do love reading your Maytag Moments. I definitely miss seeing you guys!!
We have been watching Anne with an E too but we still have a ways to go, I think. I love it and hope it won’t end, but apparently, per your report, it does. Anyway, I sure look forward to the day we can all meet again.
Hugs,
Pauletta
SET: Thanks, Pauletta. Yes, meeting again will be great. I suspect it will be some time later.
1115: Does this cover look familiar? Welcome, Home. Similar to Jillian’s Journey, only a different color? That’s because this book is in the same family series.
1500: Watched 45 minutes of Jerry Seinfeld. (stand up comedy). PJ went to sleep in her chair. Instead, I came into my office and scanned the email.
1700: Had a light dinner sandwich and watched this morning’s recording of CBS Sunday Morning. We were in bed by 2100.
05.18.2020: 0500: Up and cleaning some notes on this computer. PJ stripped the bedsheets. I put a splint on the Matrix rear door handle. Wrapped it with duct tape. The tape is the same color as the Matrix. Not having a carport means the vehicles have to take the Sun. Another year and the Acacia tree will shade it for half the day, I hope.
0640: We walked parts of Udall. Gotta remember to stay on the sidewalks and not cut across the grass. When we returned home our shoes were tracking matted grass and muck into the house. Ugh!
0800: Practiced shooting while Swombo scored. I should have started earlier. The Sun was hot on my back. I shot ten ends. 180/300. Swombo says I’m still playing Ring-Around-the-Rosie. She’s correct, of course. I missed two days of practice.
Swombo and I hope you are all staying healthy. If you are beginning to bounce off the walls, try writing letters to one of your descendants. Your thoughts, your perspective will be interesting to them when they are your age. Ten minutes a day will help you get into the habit.
